Policy Statement

Every child and young person/vulnerable adult who plays bowls squash or tennis at this club should be allowed to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse.

This is the responsibility of every club member.

The National Governing Bodies of Sport recognise their responsibilities to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying.

Child abuse is a very emotive and difficult subject and it is important to understand the feeling involved but not to allow them to interfere with judgement about action to be taken.

This club is determined to meet its obligations to ensure that all children and young people are allowed to participate in as safe an environment as possible. Any concerns of child abuse should be reported to the Club Child Protection Officer.

The key principles underpinning this policy are:-
  • The child’s welfare is, and must always be the paramount consideration. Children have a right to be in a safe environment and the Club will endeavour to provide that security.
  • All children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, racial origin, religious belief or sexual identity.
  • All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
